We are thrilled to be partnering with NeuroEquilibrium Diagnostic Systems Pvt Ltd in setting up a complete solution for patients with Vertigo, including advanced diagnostics and rehabilitation, at our Nutfield clinic from April 2026. It is also a pleasure to be working in close collaboration with ENT Surrey Ltd, Sameer Khemani, and Rosie King, Vestibular Physiotherapist, to deliver this integrated service for our patients.

Understanding Vertigo
Vertigo is not a disease in itself, it is a symptom. It is the false sensation that you or your surroundings are spinning, tilting, or moving when there is no actual motion. Because it is a symptom rather than a diagnosis, simply trying to suppress the feeling of dizziness does not address the underlying cause.
Vertigo can arise from a number of different conditions affecting the vestibular (inner ear) system or its connections within the brain. Each cause requires a very specific approach to assessment and treatment.
Common causes include:
- Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV), caused by displaced inner ear crystals
- Vestibular neuritis or labyrinthitis, often linked to viral inflammation
- Ménière’s disease, associated with inner ear fluid imbalance
- Vestibular migraine
- Age-related balance deterioration
- Post-concussion or neurological causes
Because these conditions can present with similar symptoms but require very different treatments, accurate diagnosis is essential.
Why Specialist Assessment Matters
Vertigo cannot and should not be treated generically. Management requires clinicians specifically trained in vestibular assessment and rehabilitation. Inappropriate treatment, or exercises given without a clear diagnosis, can worsen symptoms, prolong recovery, and in some cases increase the risk of falls or functional decline. It is therefore extremely important that vertigo is assessed and treated by the right specialists.
For patients, vertigo can be an awful and deeply distressing experience. Many describe feeling disoriented, anxious, unable to work, drive, or carry out everyday activities. The unpredictability of symptoms can significantly affect confidence and quality of life. Expert-led care is essential not only to resolve the physical issue, but also to support patients safely back to normal function.
What Is Vestibular Rehabilitation?
Vestibular Rehabilitation is a specialised, evidence-based form of physiotherapy designed to retrain the brain to compensate for dysfunction within the balance system. Rather than masking symptoms, it uses targeted movements and exercises to restore balance, stabilise vision, and reduce dizziness over time.
A tailored treatment programme would be structured based on our patients’ specific needs and would include for example, functional retraining to support return to daily activities, exercises to desensitise motion-triggered dizziness and balance retraining.
Every programme is individualised and guided by precise diagnostic findings.
A Complete Service Under One Roof
One of the greatest challenges for vertigo sufferers is navigating multiple appointments across different services before receiving answers. Our new model brings diagnostics, medical expertise, and rehabilitation together in one place, allowing for faster diagnosis, coordinated care, and a smoother recovery journey.
Having a fully integrated pathway means:
- Patients are assessed by the right specialists from the outset
- Diagnostic findings directly guide rehabilitation planning
- Communication between clinicians is seamless
- Treatment begins sooner, improving outcomes and reducing frustration
For individuals living with vertigo, this joined-up approach can make a profound difference — transforming what is often a long and overwhelming experience into a structured, supportive pathway to recovery.
