September 13, 2023We are now offering a new treatment option for tinnitus in our clinics – Lenire®.
What is Lenire?
Lenire is a treatment device that has been proven in large-scale clinical trials to reduce the symptoms of tinnitus. It uses bimodal neuromodulation to drive long-term changes in the brain to treat tinnitus.
How does it work?
The treatment plays sounds from headphones and provides gentle electrical stimulation to the tongue via a Tonguetip. The sounds and electrical stimulation work together to retrain your brain. You pay less attention to your tinnitus reducing its impact on your day-to-day life. Lenire is used as part of a treatment plan prescribed and supervised by a qualified healthcare professional. The settings are customised to suit your tinnitus after an assessment to make sure you’re suitable.
What is the evidence behind Lenire?
• More than 500 people participated in two large-scale clinical trials proving Lenire can reduce the severity of tinnitus symptoms
• The first of these trials, published in 2020, was one of the largest and longest followed-up trials of a tinnitus device. It showed that 86.2% of treatment-compliant participants achieved an improvement in their tinnitus symptoms after 12 weeks of treatment
• 80.1% of treatment-compliant participants achieved an improvement which sustained for at least 12 months after treatment ended
• The second large-scale trial, published in 2022, optimised treatment with Lenire and showed better results
• 95% of treatment-compliant participants reported an improvement in their symptoms after 12 weeks of treatment 1,3 o 91% of treatment-compliant participants reported an improvement in their symptoms which lasted at least 12 months after treatment ended
• An independent analysis of real-world patients from Germany, published in early 2022, showed consistent results with clinical trials after six to 12 weeks of treatment
