A Collaborative Specialist Service
We are partnered with NeuroEquilibrium Diagnostic Systems Pvt Ltd to introduce advanced vestibular diagnostics and rehabilitation solutions for patients with vertigo.
We are also pleased to be working closely with ENT Surrey Ltd, consultant ENT specialist Sameer Khemani, and vestibular physiotherapist Rosie King to deliver a truly integrated, multidisciplinary service.
This collaboration ensures patients receive expert-led care from diagnosis through to rehabilitation, all within a coordinated pathway
Understanding Vertigo
Vertigo is not a condition in itself, it is a symptom.
It is the false sensation that you or your surroundings are moving, spinning, or tilting when no actual movement is occurring. Because vertigo is a symptom rather than a diagnosis, simply suppressing dizziness does not address the underlying cause.
Vertigo can arise from a range of conditions affecting the inner ear (vestibular system) or its connections to the brain. Each cause requires a specific diagnostic and treatment approach.
Common causes include:
- Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)
- Vestibular neuritis or labyrinthitis
- Ménière’s disease
- Vestibular migraine
- Age-related balance decline
- Post-concussion or neurological causes
Because these conditions often present similarly but require very different treatments, accurate diagnosis is essential.
Why Specialist Assessment Matters
Vertigo should not be treated generically.
Effective management requires clinicians with specialist training in vestibular assessment and rehabilitation. Without a clear diagnosis, inappropriate exercises or treatments may worsen symptoms, delay recovery, and increase the risk of falls or long-term balance issues.
For many patients, vertigo is distressing and disruptive, affecting work, driving, mobility, and overall confidence. Expert assessment is therefore essential not only to identify the cause, but also to restore safety and quality of life.
Vestibular Rehabilitation
Vestibular rehabilitation is a specialised, evidence-based form of physiotherapy designed to retrain the brain to compensate for dysfunction in the balance system.
Rather than masking symptoms, it works by encouraging the brain and body to adapt through targeted movement and exercise.
A tailored programme may include:
- Balance retraining exercises
- Gaze stabilisation techniques
- Habituation exercises to reduce motion sensitivity
- Functional retraining for daily activities
Each rehabilitation plan is individually designed based on diagnostic findings and patient symptoms.
